Bridgewater, N.J. (May 2017) After hosting 18 Annual “Run For Runaways 5K Runs,” Visions and Pathways, a Bridgewater-based nonprofit, has changed its name for our 19th run to “Run and Walk for Our Youth’s Future.” The annual run’s proceeds will benefit the organization’s arts and recreation program. Visions and Pathways goal is to provide abused, neglected, homeless and runaway youth, ages 13-21, with an avenue for self-expression and physical activity to help them deal with the trauma in their lives, develop untapped talent, explore new pursuits, and participate in the community.

“Our new name represents an exciting change,” said David Walker, CEO. “For nearly half a century, our organization was known for running a youth shelter and group homes. Many of our kids come through the foster care system. While we continue to run group homes, we are emphasizing outreach prevention, family reunification and helping children avoid becoming displaced from their families.”

Our new name for our Annual 5k Run represents focusing on our client’s futures rather than their past. “Our programs help youth see their potential for success and guide them along the often difficult path of becoming a thriving adult. Ultimately, our programs help end the cycle of dependency.” With a new name for our Run, it shows a fresh look at what is in store for the youth in our community and their future. “The future is very bright for our agency and for the youth we serve,” said Walker.
