JCP&L pre-apprenticeship program – Morristown

The JCP&L/PSI program is an internship geared towards putting minorities in a position to obtain employment with Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) – FirstEnergy Corp.  JCP&L, concerned with the low percentage of minorities in their company, wanted to start a program that would assist people of color in getting a job in their organization. The JCP&L/PSI internship program takes incoming candidates and prepares them in the skills they will need to complete an internship with JCP&L to become a lineman or substation operator. This training includes tool recognition, pole climbing, tying knots, etc.  In addition, each candidate is required to attend two (paid) years at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) and spend the interim summer doing paid training.  JCP&L will also assist students with all applications, FASFA, and placement tests. Upon completion of the program, the candidate will be offered full-time employment as a lineman or substation operator; staring salary can be $70,000.
